Pond fencing and stone moving

Frosty Field 11 Jan 2025

Very frosty and beautiful work party to start the New Year. The planned tasks of clearing vegetation on the limestone bank were scaled back as the slope was too slippery to work on. Plenty of other things to get on with, however!

Brian and Kevin completed the job of attaching wiring to the pond fence posts - so glad to get that done. We also made a start moving the piles of rocks that were pulled out of the pond last summer and sorting them into useful piles for later in the year. We plan to construct a stretch of dry stone wall inside the wire fence using this stone which will make a great habitat for amphibians and other small creatures. We’ll continue to excavate the accumulated silt from the pond as it dries out again during the summer season.

We settled on a location for some memorial tree planting and thought about possible positions for some restful bench seating. The primroses that we transplanted before Christmas were out enjoying a patch of sunshine, too.
