February News…

Thanks to all who turned out last weekend, together we planted an astonishing and rather wonderful 1040 young whips, plus trees, which will eventually grow into a thick hedgerow, proving food, shelter and nesting places for a multitude of invertebrates, birds and mammals.

To complete the work we need lots of cardboard to go under the mulch so if you could bring cardboard next time you visit the field, and place it inside the fenced area, that would be great.

We also have a wheelbarrow and shovel permanently on the field, so if you had an urge to barrow some chipped bark mulch up from the field below (by the gate) we’d hugely appreciate that too! The gate isn’t locked.

WhatsApp group - sometimes we need to do some last minute jobs on the field (e.g. planting out the remaining willows and blackthorn, moving mulch) and one of the admins may call on anyone who is free to come and help. If you’d like to be on this group, and are on WhatsApp please send me your number and I’ll add you.  Only admins can send messages on this group, so you won’t be bombarded by messages! This will appear as WMF (Wild Maple Field)
