One year on 🎂

The weather may not have been the kindest but we had a lovely morning up on the field, celebrating our first anniversary, building a spectacular insect hotel, and then a lovely picnic. Of course, there was cake…!

The Wilder Wirksworth AGM on 13 March gave members chance to reflect on an extremely active year for Wild Maple Field. In just 12 months, together we’ve:

• raised cash to secure the land and sought professional advice

• run a public consultation and built community support

• carried out baseline ecological surveys and drawn up management plans

• engaged active volunteers and local groups in regular work parties

• planted hundreds of trees and created wildflower areas

• re-established the existing dew pond

• worked with Trees for Life to plant the hedge to protect wildlife areas.
