Foundations for a Wildflower Meadow

In Mid-August we mowed a patch of Wild Maple meadow with scythes, and dragged many bags of cut rye grass off and up the slope. Then we took seven builders’ bags of green hay from a flower-filled meadow in Alderwasley and, in between peals of thunder, dragged them up WMF and spread the hay on the area we’d scythed.

We hope the seeds and accompanying insects will enjoy Wild Maple Field. Greg Jones was our green hay donor and a wonder with his scythe. He and his family helped enormously with transport too. Thank you 🙏
